ECO4 Funding – Universal Credit

What Is the Government’s ECO4 Scheme?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a UK Government program launched in 2013 to reduce carbon emissions and fight fuel poverty. It requires large energy companies to fund energy-saving upgrades in UK homes—completely free of charge to qualifying households.

 About ECO4 (2022–2026)

Now in its fourth phase, ECO4 began on 27 July 2022 and runs until 31 March 2026. ECO4 focuses on helping:

  • Low-income households

  • People with health conditions

  • Homes with poor energy efficiency ratings (EPC bands D to G)

It supports energy-efficient improvements like insulation, heating upgrades, and renewable technologies.
